The Hydrodynamic Duo
Two valves, one tank: a simple way to fill fast from any hydrant, whatever its pressure.
Every hydrant is different
Filling tankers and large pumpers from different sources takes valves that work well across a wide range of residual pressures. Hydrants and other fill sources can vary from 30 PSI or less to as much as 100 PSI or more.
A hydrant near a gravity tank or pumping station will flow much more water, at a higher residual pressure, than a hydrant at the outer edges of the water distribution system. Changes in elevation, especially in hilly terrain, also affect flow rates and residual pressures.
The solution
With our HYDRODYNAMIC DUO©, those pressure variations become easy to manage, without sacrificing turnaround time or risking over-pressurizing the tank at the higher flow rates a “hot” hydrant can deliver.
The Duo pairs two of our valves on the same tank, such as a 2½″-body valve and a 4″-body valve, with hose connections from 2½″ to 5″. Firefighters connect the source to whichever valve is best suited to the pressure and flow available at the nearest hydrants. As the flow data shows, the valves can be selected to match the hydrants available for shuttling water.
Because these mechanisms are so simple and affordable, a Hydrodynamic Duo can be installed for less than the cost of a single 4″ slow-close ball valve.
